About John Erickson
A 27-year career as a federal law clerk, US Department of Justice litigator, in-house counsel, and private practice attorney, coupled with a passion for optimal solutions, fuel John’s role as outside general counsel for physician groups and counsel to health systems and individual physicians.
The combination of litigation-honed advocacy skills, incisive judgment, ownership mindset, business acumen, and a sense of humor allow John to act as a trusted advisor, as well as a health care regulatory expert. His objective is to bring confidence to each client decision.
John has led scores of practice mergers, JVs, other integration transactions and co-management arrangements. His perspective from “both sides of the aisle” assists participants to approach transactions with a holistic, reasonable view and clear expectations.
If a matter requires resources or expertise not readily available within the Erickson Law Firm, then John has the insight, integrity, and network to obtain it seamlessly.
John graduated from the University of Michigan and the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University Bloomington (cum laude). He is one of seven children, a husband of 22 years, father of three, plays men’s league ice hockey twice a week and enjoys a Bourbon neat every now and then.
